Maxwell(Max) was brought into the Training Center from Placitas, New Mexico when he was 6 months old. His mother had been rounded-up by land management and adopted back into the community before foaling. Max was totally feral when he came to the Training Center, having no human contact.
It took months to gain Max's trust in order to brush, halter, geld, vaccinate, and provide him with farrier care. Our Horse Leaders and I worked with him daily, giving him tons of socialization and positive reinforcement to gentle him and gain his trust.
Today, Max is 1.5 years old. While a bit timid and insecure, he is very smart and extremely loyal and loving. He is UTD on his vaccinations and de-worming. He stands for the farrier and grooming, leads at the walk and trot, wears a saddle, and maneuvers trail obstacles with ease. Although he will remain on the small side, he will make an awesome sport horse, trail horse, or companion when he matures and trusts you.Max is available for adoption. Contact Penny Lane Foals if you are interested in starting the adoption process.
